What Is MangoRx?
MangoRx is the men's-health brand of Mangoceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: MGRX), a small, publicly traded telehealth company. Alongside products for other men's-health categories, its hair-loss offering is a single compounded medication called Grow. Like Hims, Keeps, and Ro, MangoRx operates the standard telehealth model: an online medical consultation, a prescription issued by a licensed physician, and medication shipped from a pharmacy on a subscription.
Two things to set expectations up front. MangoRx is a newer and smaller company than the established telehealth platforms, so it has a shorter track record. And as of 2026 it does not operate in every state — availability has excluded states including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wyoming, so confirm your state before signing up.
What's Actually in Grow
Grow's differentiator is format: instead of a topical you apply and pills you swallow, it's one mint-flavored chewable tablet, taken once a day, that bundles four ingredients. Here is an honest look at each.
Finasteride 1mg — the strongest active. This is the same dose and drug as brand-name Propecia. Over two years, finasteride 1mg halted further hair loss (by hair count) in 83% of men versus 28% on placebo, and expert review of photographs rated 66% of men as having increased hair growth versus 7% on placebo (Kaufman et al., 1998, PMID: 9777765). It works by blocking DHT, the hormone that drives follicle miniaturization in androgenetic alopecia. Oral minoxidil — effective, but systemic. This is the ingredient that most sets Grow apart from a standard finasteride-plus-topical-minoxidil regimen, and the one that most needs context. Minoxidil unquestionably regrows hair — 5% topical minoxidil produced significantly greater regrowth than placebo in men with androgenetic alopecia (Olsen et al., 2002, PMID: 12196747) — and a meta-analysis of randomized trials found minoxidil combined with finasteride outperformed minoxidil alone on photographic assessment (Zhou et al., 2020). But Grow delivers minoxidil orally (systemically), not to the scalp. Low-dose oral minoxidil is a legitimate and increasingly popular off-label approach with better compliance than topical, but it is not FDA-approved for hair loss and has a different risk profile — possible unwanted body-hair growth, fluid retention, and rare cardiovascular effects. It belongs under physician supervision, which is exactly why Grow is prescription-only. If you'd rather keep minoxidil off your bloodstream, a topical route (or oral vs. topical minoxidil) may suit you better.
Biotin and vitamin D3 — marketing more than medicine. Grow adds 1mg of biotin and 2000 IU of vitamin D3. Be realistic here: biotin only helps hair in people who are genuinely deficient (uncommon), and high-dose biotin can skew thyroid and troponin lab results. Vitamin D3 is associated with hair loss when you're deficient, but supplementing it has limited direct regrowth evidence. These are reasonable to include and unlikely to hurt, but they are not the reason Grow works — the finasteride and minoxidil are.
How It Works and What It Costs
The process mirrors other telehealth services: complete an online medical questionnaire, a licensed physician reviews it and issues a prescription if appropriate, and the compounded chewable ships from a pharmacy on an auto-refill subscription.
MangoRx prices Grow at $3 per tablet, taken daily — about $90/month — with 30-, 60-, and 90-day supply options and a Subscribe-and-Save discount plus free shipping on your initial and recurring orders. That puts Grow at the premium end of the market: generic oral finasteride plus topical minoxidil through Keeps typically runs $30-40/month, and even a compounded topical from Happy Head or Strut is comparable or cheaper. You are paying for the convenience of a single once-daily chewable and the oral-minoxidil format — not for a more effective drug than the generics.

- Once-daily chewable is about as low-friction as adherence gets; no messy topical, no separate pills.

Cons
- Uses oral (systemic) minoxidil off-label — a different, broader side-effect profile than scalp-applied minoxidil, and not FDA-approved for hair loss.
- Compounded medication, which has less regulatory oversight than manufactured generics.
- Premium price (~$90/month) for drugs that are inexpensive generically.
- Biotin and D3 are effectively filler for most men.
- Men only, newer/smaller brand, and not available in all states.
Who Grow Is — and Isn't — For
Consider Grow if: you're a man who wants both proven drugs in one simple daily step, you value the chewable format, and you're comfortable taking minoxidil systemically under medical supervision. It's a genuinely convenient way to run combination therapy.
Look elsewhere if: you want to avoid systemic minoxidil (choose topical minoxidil + finasteride, e.g. via Keeps or a compounded topical); you're price-sensitive (generic finasteride + Kirkland minoxidil is a fraction of the cost); you're a woman; or MangoRx doesn't operate in your state.
Our Verdict
Grow by MangoRx is a legitimate product built on the right actives — this is not a snake-oil supplement dressed up as medicine. The finasteride and oral minoxidil are exactly what the evidence supports for male androgenetic alopecia, and folding them into one once-daily chewable is a real convenience advantage over juggling a topical and a pill.
What you're weighing is format and route, not efficacy. You pay a premium for the chewable, you accept systemic minoxidil instead of topical, and you get some biotin/D3 you probably don't need. For a man who'll stick with treatment more reliably as a single mint tablet — and who wants oral minoxidil's compliance edge — that trade can be worth it. For a man optimizing cost, or wary of systemic minoxidil, generic finasteride plus topical minoxidil does the same core job for far less.
Bottom line: a convenient, honestly-formulated combination product at a premium price. Choose it for the format and the oral-minoxidil approach, not because it will out-grow the generics.
